D43-A/.../F     OO 4MM HST CLASS 43 LIGHT LENSES £5.99

Many real HST noses have now been plated around the nose lights, giving clusters of two or three lamps to each side of the air horn grill. Depending on the type of cluster, when not illuminated all the lights can appear to be clear, or sometimes the red lamps still look red when not on. On the rear trailing vehicle, red lights are displayed when in service; meanwhile the leading engine has white lights.

Before 2009 and the latest super-detailed Hornby models, HST power car models had included only white DC directional lighting, with a single clear glass lens with illumination at just the inner-most of three moulded lamp positions. Where an AC current is present, both ends would illuminate all the time, unless DCC lighting control was fitted - but both white lights. However, for those former Lima and Hornby models out there, we have a simple solution to provide appropriate red lighting and plated lens surrounds for the modern liveries, including the twin lens types.

These decals are not suitable for the latest super-detailed Hornby models.

The original Hornby and Lima models have different shaped light lens mouldings, so you will need to identify which model type you have to correctly match the decals. Examine the windows at the blunt end - Lima tooled models have only one door window at the Guard's end (these are to be released in the Hornby Railroad range) - Hornby's pre-2008 models have the original extra window next to the Guard's van door, which is then not correct for the latest liveries.

Our filmless no-carrier waterslide decals fit easily over the model light lens, providing different configuration options with both clear and tanslucent red lenses. There are two full sets of each type included in a pack - enough for six power cars if you use them all:
  • All clear lens decals give an accurate un-lit look for some engines, and are ideal where perhaps separate coloured LED lighting has been fitted.
  • Decals with red lenses at the inner-most edges can be used to go on the un-powered end of a set. Perfect for a DCC AC power environment without needing any special lighting to be fitted, or if you remove the directional diode in an ordinary DC set up - that gives a red always on end, ideal for the Midland Mainline livery,
  • Decals with outer-most red lens decals for the other end for the Grand Central and GNER leading ends,
  • While for the Midland Mainline livery there is instead the option of opaque red on the inner-most lens, blocking the normal white light from that position - some white light will then leak through to where it should be coming out.
Our GNER packs represent a special short-lived variation, as applied to power car 43118, with all silver plating around the lenses and grill; subsequently that was painted to match the yellow warning panel and dark blue sides. We do not offer that later GNER option, which has appeared on the new Hornby model.

Varnishing over the applied decals is recommended, or a simple application of "Johnson's Klear" ("Future") floor-polish/acrylic-varnish, otherwise you will need to guard against scratching them.
