D126-*     FGW LOCAL LINES DMUS £17.49-£99.99 Passengers were asked to suggest placenames as part of a competition to celebrate the three franchises of Wessex Trains, First Great Western and First Great Western Link coming together to form the Greater Western franchise in April 2006. The FGW "Local Lines" livery for diesel multiple units of Classes 143, 150, 153 and 158 was then introduced at the end of 2007 - it's still around, but is planned to be replaced by the modern corporate GWR green livery. "Local Lines" was an evolution of the "Dynamic Lines" livery, with names of beauty spots, tourist attractions, pubs and even schools, forming the wavey lines on the sides of the carriages. Here we present complete decal sets with numbers of your choice, supplied for N-gauge 2mm, 4mm OO-scale, or even O-gauge 7mm form, for Classes 150, 153 and 158. These include all the warning markings, door opening controls, data panels and a range of real destinations. They are complete decal sections for under the windows, between and around the doors, including the dot pattern behind the placenames - although you might want to cut the decals into sections to apply them as they do with the real life vinyls. You will need to paint the blue background colour which fades through the windows - standard FGW blue at the bottom, lightening to an azure blue at the top - it might be a good idea to start with one of the plain FGW blue models and airbrush on the fading, Revell 52 Gloss Blue is a good match for the top colour. We might also produce the livery for the Pacer units if there are enough requests - Realtrack Models make the suitable 143/144 model for 4mm, and have issued an award winning "Local Lines" version a few years ago. Dapol also issued a 2mm 153 model in this livery. Peter Clark Models make a 7mm version of a Class 150/2 unit as a kit. Bachmann, Graham Farish and Hornby make the other donor models, and have ruled out producing "Local Lines" versions as they say they are not capable of reproducing the livery they say. Brett Baldwin supplied hundreds of close up photos of all the units in this livery and we've precisely matched every placename on each side of each type - both sides of each car are in a different arrangement, the classes also vary. It's taken a month of art work development for us to recreate this livery, the most time we've spent on anything to date - they're also amongst the largest set of decals we make, using two media sheets for the 7mm set. To reduce the price of these packs we will supply just enough decals to make one model, with NO SPARE REPEATS of the large panel decals. In 2017 there were six 150/2 units in this livery: 150221, 150239, 150243, 150244, 150249 & 150265. With four 153 units: 153370, 153372, 153377 & 153382. There were two 2-car 158 units, which often ran together: 158763 & 158766. There was one proper 3-car unit as 158798 (52798-58715-57798) - it had been repainted into another livery by 2017 - other 3-car formations were being made up by mixing and matching driving trailer ends with no proper centre-car.
