D67      CLASS 67 GRILL TRANSFERS £1.99

The first Hornby releases of Class 67 models, based on the former Lima tooling, had some detail omissions. Both R2522 EWS livery 67027 "Rising Star" and R2523 67005 "Queen's Messenger" in modern Royal claret colours, are missing the printed air-horn grills either side of the high intensity light mounted above the cab. With our clear film backed waterslide decals you can add those essential details.

Another detail missing on these models were the side window rubber surrounds - a black rectangle around the top and side edges of the windows, stretching down about 14.5mm. The easiest way to remedy that is to take a black fine felt-tip marker and ruler and draw each one on as four simple straight lines - e.g. a typical CD-R marker pen giving a 0.6mm or so thick line.

When re-painting Class 67 engines you will probably paint over any printed on grills on models that were correctly printed. For modelling in 4mm OO scale the Wrexham & Shropshire livery, or the latest DB Schenker 67018 "Keith Heller" engine, in addition to our separate packs for those company logos, you will need these D67 grills. For N modellers 2mm scale grill decals are included with the respective logo packs.

Each D67 pack normally contains three of the grill decals shown, enough for 1 engine plus a spare set, matched exactly with real photographs for the mesh spacing etc.. Each decal pack now contains additional grill-only decals, without the surrounding frame, better suited to the new Hornby Super Detailed models, where the grill surround is moulded on the body.

For direct orders of a pair of D68-A packs, to model the twin-engined initial Wrexham & Shropshire trains, we will include additional pairs of the grills with each D67 pack also ordered - so you'll only need to order one D67 pack for each pair of D68-A packs.

Note that clear film carrier based decals like these work best with glossy surfaces, applying some gloss varnish to the matte finish models first is a good idea. Also the nature of the wax ink used here means you should varnish over them to protect the details from scratching off. This may seem a bit fiddly, but this is the only solution we can think of for this particular grill problem.
