FIRST "F" 66843/66844 EX-ADVENZA
| £9.99/£7.99/£4.99 |
Advenza Freight were part of the Cotswold Rail group from 2005 to 2009. From May 2009 four modern Class 66 engines (previously 66407-10) were repainted in a plain blue livery and renumbered as 66841-4. Large yellow and green logos were applied with vinyl characters on the sides. Sadly, the company failed to pay their taxes on time and Advenza Freight was wound up in the first week of October 2009. The as-new engines were returned to the leasing company, Portebrook. From there, 66841 and 66842 were quickly taken on and repainted by Colas Rail. 66843 and 66844 had their Advenza Freight logos removed and First "F" brandings added, without futher repainting or even washing! 66843 was also taken on by Colas at the end of January 2010, leaving just 66844 in First form, finally being repainted in June 2010 to Colas colours.

Here we present two decal options for each of 2mm N-gauge or 4mm OO-scale, representing either the immediate ex-Advenza Freight pre-washing weathered state, or a cleaned up new-looking blue condition. The difference between the pack options for each scale being only the special blue coloured Advenza Freight logos. Each pack contains decals for one engine to be completed with either number, plus a spare set of details in case of any problems:
- First "F" cab side logo in white,
- White cab side and black nose end numbers,
- Yellow data panels with GM Electromotive badge above,
- Metallic silver air conditioning grills and fuel sign.
- Blue Advenza Freight logos for the weathered condition packs.

Meanwhile, Colas Rail decals for 66841 and 66842 appear in our D44-* packs.
Andrew Walshaw completed a masterpiece of weathering for 66843. Firstly he painted the donor model with Precision Paints DRS Blue, then it was weathered with various dirt colours, and to prepare for the decals, given a coat of Johnson's Klear floor polish for a smooth glossy finish. With more wet Johnson's, or you might use MicroScale's MicroSet solution, the decals were pressed with a sponge to stick them in to the side ribs. At this point Microscale MicroSol solution can be used to further help the decal carrier soften and bed in. Next, more Johnson's Klear to seal and protect the decals from the shrinkage of the final varnish finish. The completed effect then has clean-looking blue patches where the Advenza Freight logo lettering was removed, along with the dirt on the engine.
