For modern traction O-gauge 7mm models, data and depot panels are now no longer a missing detail. This page allows you to specify exactly what you want in data and/or depot panels, what type of frame, colouring and all the individual entries.
Originally data and depot panels dating from 1968 were all BR blue backed, one-piece white rectangular frames. Those were used even on green and maroon painted engines - adding odd blue patches. Then the panels were made taller with a pair of boxes added at the top of the frame and a new category was added to record any "ETH index". The current types bear the metric units "tonnes" in place of the earlier "tons" - although still using imperial "mph" for speed ratings. With the introduction of engine livery variations a new clear-backed type of panel was introduced and also other colour printed ones for the various modern liveries.
Depot panels have varied as well, although always a one-piece rectangle shape, in widths to fit the contents. Originally the depot name appeared in full. Then a series of large two letter depot codes appeared under the name in a reduced print. Finally the names were lost and just the letter codes used. As with the data panels, coloured frame ones were produced for modern liveries.
Previously in model form we understand that only one incorrect size of data panel has been available as a transfer, using fixed details which will then be incorrect most of the time as well. Meanwhile ready to run models, like the Heljan Hymek, have appeared without any details printed on.
We offer up to four sets of three custom order panels - data and/or depot panels - made to your specifications below. The early BR blue backed types are printed as filmless no carrier decals - effectively pre-cut patches. The clear backed forms are printed on a clear-film waterslide media, which requires some cutting out. See the More Details link from the top of the home page in The Products section. In particular, the tips on how to work with decals and model painting. Below is a photo of an actual decal set for Western Class 52 engines - click on it to enlarge and read all the print clearly.
Waterslide decals, order code "D9-A", are priced at £3.00p for one set of 3. Identical repeat sets, up to a maximum of four sets of 3, can be added for £0.50p per each additional set.
