For modellers of modern traction OO-gauge 4mm, we present custom order data and/or depot panel decals. This page allows you to specify exactly what you want in the panels, what type of frame and all the individual entries. Admittedly these are really tiny details, right on the limit of legibility. However, we believe it's the small details that count.
From 1968 the first data and depot panels were BR blue backed, with one section white rectangular frames. The blue panels were used even on green and maroon painted engines. Soon the panels were made taller with a pair of boxes added at the top of the frame, this was to accommodate a new category "ETH index" and the various sub-classes of engines that developed. Current formats have metric units "tonnes" instead of "tons", but still with imperial "mph" for speed ratings. As engine livery variations were introduced a clear-backed type of panel was created along with coloured framed ones for the new liveries.
Depot panels formats also varied, but keeping to a one-piece rectangle shape, the widths to fit the contents. At first the depot names appeared in full. Next a series of large two letter depot codes were used under the name in a reduced print. In the final form, names were lost and just the letter codes used. Some black depot panels were produced to match the coloured frame data panels.
Usually OO scale production models carry printed data panels, more often than not correct. Most of our various renaming decals also include the appropriate data panels. Otherwise, when repainting this is a feature that will require decals.
We will produce sets of three (one spare) custom order panels - data and/or depot panels - made to the specifications you give below. The early BR blue backed types are printed as filmless no carrier decals - effectively pre-cut patches. The clear backed forms are printed on a clear-film waterslide media, which requires some cutting out. See the More Details link from the top of the home page in The Products section. In particular, the tips on how to work with decals and model painting. Below is a scan of an actual OO-gauge decal set, including the depot panels, for Class 27/0 engines - click on it to enlarge and read all the print more clearly - remember these panels are less than 4mm wide.
Waterslide decals, order code "D9-A", are priced at £2.00p for one set of 3. Identical repeat sets, up to a maximum of four sets of 3, can be added for £0.50p per each additional set.
