SL6      SUPER-DETAIL PULLMAN NAME PANELS £2.50

Hornby's new super-detailed Pullman cars can be renamed with our custom order labels to any name that you would like. Perhaps a personal family name rather than one of the real car names.

The details that Hornby have missed out, or overdone for effect, can also be corrected:
  • Match-boarding with photographic accuracy as opposed to scale depth corrugated-iron clad!
  • Plated-over sides with the seams visible between the ten plate sections that were used and not just a one-piece flush side!
  • Match-board joints extending up to the correct height and not stopping short just inside the double lined box.
  • Multi-colour Pullman coats of arms, over flush filled-in patches on match-board sides, as per the real transfers, and not just a simplified four-colour representation.
  • Name cartouches also over filled in areas for match-boarded cars and not unreadably flowing over deep ribbing.
  • Letter spacings for names as per real practice and not too widely spaced for "THIRD CLASS CAR" panels.
  • Brake ends with the correct "Load 11/2 Tons" for the original crest liveries.
We offer custom made pairs of name panels, printed on glossy film material designed to match the Hornby coach finish and colouration as closely as possible. To 4mm (OO) scale, they are a precise fit for either the match-board or plated side versions of the cars. The panels will fit any 8 or 12 wheel models, except the 12 wheel brake - released in the latest R2819 Bournemouth Belle train pack as "CAR No 94" and for 2011 as R4477 "CAR No 95". (The real 12 wheel brake of the type modelled by Hornby only carried those two released names - further realistic options are limited to having the same names with smooth plated sides perhaps.)

Note if you are looking for name panels for the former R223/233/4312/4313 models, see our SL10 or L22* packs.

Choose from the five variations of panel types and liveries that you would like:

Golden Arrow large 1946-9 markings (no brakes)
Common original crest for all but brake cars
Common original crest for brake cars only
Late crest livery for all except brake cars
Late crest livery for brake cars only

The post 1960 late crest liveries used a coat of arms with horizontal lions, and the lining was simplified to remove scroll work at the corners and ends of name cartouches.

Select the car body type that you wish to create - note that our labels will fit either type of Hornby model and can be used to convert from one type to another:

  Match-board pre-1955 bodies
  Plated-over post-1955 bodies
  Plated-over with Bachmann Mk1 umber post-1960

Note we offer a choice of panel colour for those looking to make a better matched post 1960 rake mixed with Bachmann Mk1 Pullmans. Bachmann chose to use a paler more chocolate brown umber and a custard-like cream shade which does not otherwise match well with any Hornby models. If you choose the Bachmann umber shade, remember that the coach ends will still be in the original Hornby colour, and you will probably want to paint the cream darker too.

Please enter the exact lettering that you would like in the name cartouches of your side panels in the box below. For numbered cars in real life, there were specific naming styles at particular times that you may wish to follow:
  • "CAR No XX THIRD CLASS" - used up to 1948
  • "THIRD CLASS CAR No XX" - between 1948-51
  • "CAR No XX SECOND CLASS" - Golden Arrow 1946-49
  • "CAR No XX" - from 1951 onwards
Be sure to use UPPER or lower-case and any special characters as you want them to appear - almost always the real text was in UPPER-CASE. Note that the "No" of a numbered car will be formed using the special raised and underlined "o" as per real practice.
